Cellular Workout

This is my first blog, inspired in large part by the urge to shed light on a growing trend I have come to notice. Over the past few months I have noticed how much technology has become intertwined with a person's workout. Whether it is texting, taking a business call or simply changing music, people are constantly on their phones. Sometimes I see people more wrapped up in their phone than in their own workout. I myself am also guilty of this distraction. I carry my phone around at all times, interferring with my workout constantly. Often I find it hard to detatch myself from the outside world long enough to get a good workout in. As I was thinking to myself how much time people spend glued to their phone, I had a thought about how to turn this trend into a positive one. If gyms could figure out how to direct the time spent on a person's phone into time spent working out, then members would see greater results. People want to feel connected and a part of something. Gyms should create individual applications for members phones that assist with working out, tracking progress and measuring progress against other members. People will be on their phones connecting about the workout at hand, not so busy focused on life outside of the present moment.
