Phone's and Dinner

I currently work as a server/bartender and a common trend I've noticed is that people cannot put their phone's down throughout an entire meal/night out. People are constantly checking emails, taking pictures, tweeting, etc. There are numerous times I go to take an order and people seriously cannot put their phone down long enough make eye contact. Can a text really be that important? The growing trend of phones complementing dinner could work towards restaurant's advantage. There is money to be made in a phone app that helps improve a customer's experience from seating, to ordering, to even paying the bill. What do you think?

Social Media Rants

I am all for social media and all of the positive changes that have progressed with it in the past couple of years. Social media has changed the way we communicate as a society as a whole for the better. With all positive progessions there is always a downside. A huge downside I think with social media is when people use it to inappropriately voice their opinions about a certain issue. Nothing irritates me more than coming across a social media post from someone ranting. It is unnecessary to post a status, blog, etc. ranting about something in your personal life. Even more so it is extremely irritating when a rant is indirectly directed towards someone. Some things are better handled privately and people do not need a front row seat to other peoples problems.

Super Bowl History

Super Bowl XLVII was a game that no one could have predicted and is sure to go down in history as one of the most memorble Super Bowls. Whether you like sports or not, or cared about either team, the game was an exciting game to watch. The power outage that lasted 34 minutes is crazy to comprehend happening at such a large event, especially the "Mercedes-Benz Dome". I can already hear conspiracy theorists talking of a Ravens sabbatoge. Then how about the 49's scoring 17 points in 4 minutes, 10 seconds. That was a huge momentum change from the 28-6 loss the 49's were suffering until that point. Jacoby Jones running 108 yards for the longest kick-off return in Super Bowl history contributed to this early loss. The halftime show was nothing short of amazing. Normally the halftime show gets criticism for not having a great performance, but I think this year Beyonce brought it and gave everyone and enjoyable show. Until next years game I still think people will be talking about last night and the events that transpired.
